I created a base smart material in Substance Painter for peeling wood to help speed up our 3D texturing workflow, since many of our props are wood-based. I took time to organize and clearly name each layer so it’s easy for others (and myself) to understand, tweak, and reuse.
In addition, I developed a separate smart material for outlines and texture overlays as a foundation to match our art direction, a children’s book feel inspired by Ivan Bilibin’s illustration style.
