This was a six-month junior project where our team of 18 set out to make a complete game. I was one of three 3D modelers, and most of my work focused on creating assets that matched the team’s visual goals: bright and easy-to-read colors, flat tones for environments to avoid overstimulation, and a toon-style.
For foliage, I draw the color map in Illustrator and keep in mind the ability to use the same plane but swap textures for faster resolution. I was able to do that with the seaweeds and snake plant.
For the pots, I originally had a normal map, which makes the pot look great. But later, we add the toon shader in Unity, and the normals are no longer needed.
